Knowledge, experience, and training needs to be shared, and that's why at Teddy's Dance Lab we offer dance teacher training.
We can mentor and advise (trainee) teachers, and deliver 4 out of 5 units of ISTD's initial teacher qualification, both in-person and online.
ISTD Level 4 Diploma in Dance Education (DDE)
- DDE Unit 1: Preparing for Safe Teaching Practice*
- Topics covered: accident and emergency situations, injury management, physiological warm-up and cool-down, nutrition and hydration, safeguarding, legal requirements, risk assessment, anatomy, biomechanics etc.
- DDE Unit 2: Observing, Assisting and Teaching Practice
- Topics covered: teaching, communication and assessment methods, feedback, motivational strategies, lesson planning, aims & objectives, reflection and self-evaluation etc.
- DDE Unit 3: Intermediate
- Preparing students for the syllabus dance exam in the genres Tap, Modern Theatre and/or Imperial Ballet.
- DDE Unit 5: Child Development
- Topics covered: physical growth and motor skills, cognitive and psycho-social milestones, additional learning needs, diversity and inclusive practice etc.
* We also deliver this unit as part as ISTD's new qualification: Level 4 Diploma in Teaching Community Dance (DTCD)
